VitalHub Expands Support of Mental Health Providers in Manitoba

TORONTO, April 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – VitalHub Corp. (the “Company” or “VitalHub”) (TSXV: VHI) is pleased to announce that the Northern Regional Health Authority (“NRHA”), of the province of Manitoba, has licensed VitalHub’s B Care Electronic Health Record software (‘EHR’) to support their child and community mental health programs.

In 2013, VitalHub’s B Care EHR platform was implemented in the largest Manitoba inpatient mental health facility that provides services to residents of Manitoba and Nunavut, whose challenging needs cannot be met elsewhere in the provincial health care system.

Building on the success of VitalHub’s implementation, the NRHA, following the issuance of an RFP, has licensed the use of VitalHub’s B Care EHR. This sale marks a significant event for VitalHub, supporting the first implementation of an EHR and the interRAI Child and Youth Mental Health (ChYMH) and Adolescent Supplement. The B Care EHR will be implemented in partnership with the NRHA and Healthy Child Manitoba Office (HCMO) to evaluate the Protocol for Assessment and Discharge of Suicidal Children and Youth being piloted in Thompson, Manitoba, and the surrounding area. A benefit of the EHR is the standardization of data collection, which will support the evaluation. This implementation will serve as a demonstration site and will inform changes to the protocol and potential application across the rest of the province.

HCMO is the secretariat of Manitoba’s Healthy Child Committee of Cabinet (HCCC) – the only legislated Cabinet committee in Canada dedicated to the well-being of children and youth. HCMO is mandated to innovate and facilitate cross-departmental child-centred public policy, research, and evaluation towards best possible outcomes for children, youth, families and communities across Manitoba.

Implementing and evaluating the protocol in the NRHA with HCMO provides an opportunity to assess the utility of EHR systems within Manitoba’s children’s and community mental health sectors and to support improvements in the quality of mental health care by providing standardized data collection processes.

“We are looking forward to working with NRHA on the implementation of our B Care Platform,” said Dan Matlow, CEO of VitalHub. “Over the past 10 years we have developed a deep working knowledge and proficiency in using interRAI assessments throughout Ontario and Selkirk Mental Health Centre. We look forward to leveraging this experience and know-how to successfully deploy B Care across the mental health and community health sector throughout Manitoba.”
