  • How staff are able to book patient activities and tests in advance of their arrival at the hospital and create pre-planned workflows to optimize clinical time.

  • How the partnership between the vendor and the buyer was optimized to collaboratively address the waitlist backlog.

Knowledge Sharing Session: Reconnecting with Spirit through Land Based Healing: An Open House with Gwekwaadziwin Miikan Youth Mental Health and Addictions Program

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada and June 21st National Indigenous Peoples Day, the 25th anniversary of celebrating the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. This is an opportunity for us to recognize and reflect on the importance and strength of present-day Indigenous communities and honour the history, culture and diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

According to Statistics Canada, Canada's Indigenous People are disproportionately affected by mental health and addictions challenges as a result of historical and contemporary socio-economic disparity and access to services. Our customer, Gwekwaadziwin Miikan was created to fill a number of access gaps to mental health services that Indigenous youth and young adults experience, by offering support to Indigenous youth across Ontario.

Respecting the importance of Gwekwaadiziwin’s culturally appropriate land-based healing practices and the significance of this month, please join us on Wednesday, June 30th at 10:00am – 11:00am. This session will be hosted by leadership from Gwekwaadziwin and will include Experiential Learning and Wellness, a Digital Tour of the Land Based Program, Importance of Indigenous-led Initiatives, and an introduction to Gwekwaadziwin Miikan’s Services

Panelists:

·       Anne Marie Thibault - Clinical Director;

·       Jasmine Fournier - Land Based Counsellor;

·       Michael Aelick - Live-in Aftercare Counsellor;

·       Godfrey Shawanda - Traditional Knowledge Keeper;

·       Matt Maracle - Director of Operations
