What devices can clinicians use to access the VitalHub application?
Currently, VitalHub can be used on the iPhone and iPad. Support for additional devices is under development.
How does a clinician load the VitalHub application onto a handheld device?
The clinician should contact his/her IT department to determine if the VitalHub application is available for use at the hospital site. If available, the clinician will obtain a user ID, password, and the application from the hospital IT department.
What must hospitals install to use the VitalHub application?
To use VitalHub, a hospital must install the VitalHub Server, an application platform that sits “on top” of the hospital’s existing clinical information systems.
Do I need to be connected to the Internet to run VitalHub on my mobile device?
Yes. By utilizing a cell phone connection through a data plan for the device, VitalHub accesses the Internet to establish a connection with the hospital network to receive the patient data, which is displayed on a mobile handheld device. Connectivity to the hospital network may be accomplished through two different methods: standard cellular connection, or Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11™). The method used to establish connectivity depends on the handheld device and the hospital network infrastructure.
